BEHIND THE DESIGN
The 'High Class' tee, part of the Sweet Caporal Collection, takes inspiration from an advertisement in the June 21, 1895 issue of the Ann Arbor Argus newspaper. We reimagined the iconic Sweet Caporal cigarette pack, featuring bold rays radiating from a military-style hat at the center. We've added subtle distressing for a worn-in, vintage feel. The “Est. 1905” date is a nod to the year Venice, CA was founded, connecting back to Off Abbot’s roots.

SWEET CAPORAL
Our first collection is inspired by Sweet Caporal Cigarettes, a 19th-century tobacco brand founded by Abbot Kinney. After becoming one of the top U.S. cigarette brands, Kinney used his success to develop Venice, CA in 1905.
The collection combines vintage advertising, bold typography, and unique cultural references. Staying true to Off Abbot’s mission of blending Venice’s rich past with modern streetwear, the pieces subtly nod to Kinney’s lasting impact on the city.
