BEHIND THE DESIGN

The 'Truly Mild' tee, part of the Sweet Caporal Collection, takes its inspiration from a early 1900s roadside advertisement for the brand. We drew inspiration from the bold, vintage typography of the Sweet Caporal logo seen on these signs, incorporating its clean yet striking design into the tee. The inclusion of the slogan “truly mild, truly fresh” pays homage to one of the brand’s most iconic taglines from that era.

COLLECTION

SWEET CAPORAL

Our first collection is inspired by Sweet Caporal Cigarettes, a 19th-century tobacco brand founded by Abbot Kinney. After becoming one of the top U.S. cigarette brands, Kinney used his success to develop Venice, CA in 1905.

The collection combines vintage advertising, bold typography, and unique cultural references. Staying true to Off Abbot’s mission of blending Venice’s rich past with modern streetwear, the pieces subtly nod to Kinney’s lasting impact on the city.
